As a company built with the purpose of helping others achieve physical, mental and financial wellness, it’s not surprising that helping those in need is an integral part of WIN’s philosophy. Coming from modest beginnings, WIN Founders, Ralph and Cathy Oats have personally experienced what it means to need a helping hand and are grateful they are now able to pay it forward in their efforts to give back to those less fortunate. Philanthropy is something they both hold dear to their hearts, whether it’s aiding in relief efforts when unfortunate disasters strike or sponsoring fundraisers for charities and local schools, they enjoy helping make a difference. When Ralph and Cathy find a cause they’re passionate about, their desire to help is instinctive. They see the need and take part in fulfilling it —and that’s the philosophy they encourage distributors to adopt as well.
“That’s the whole purpose for me,” says Paul, of Hoofddorp, Netherlands. “You can keep earning a lot of money but there needs to be a real purpose for doing this too. I am involved in this business to help people.” Emphasizing the importance of this, each year at WIN’s Anniversary Gala celebration, Giving Back trophies are awarded to distributors who have demonstrated the generosity of spirit that comes from giving of their time, effort and resources to those who are less fortunate.
Over the years WIN, together with many generous distributors, have supported several deserving charities and organizations. Some of these include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Wheelchair Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Hearts Together for Haiti (HTFH).
This Canadian charitable organization, HTFH, is a group that provides much needed education, medical and nutritional services to local communities in Haiti. Ralph and Cathy found out about HTFH after taking a cruise in July 2005 and observing the poor living conditions of the country. They returned home determined to do something to help. They, together with a group of family and friends, soon returned with donated clothing, toiletries and other necessities as recommended by Hearts Together for Haiti. The companysponsored incentive cruise in July 2006 was another opportunity for even more distributors to join in these relief efforts. For many, this proved to be a lifechanging experience.
“Our group was coming from prosperous communities in the United States and the Netherlands and we all wanted our children to understand that everyone isn’t as fortunate as we are,” says Ralph. “Cathy and I have experienced poverty in our lives, but nothing like what exists in Haiti. We really wanted to try and make a small difference in someone’s life during the short time we visited the island.”
During the 2009 incentive cruise, Escape to the Islands, WIN is once again coordinating with Hearts Together for Haiti to contribute to this worthy cause. A list of needed items will be provided to cruisers who wish to make a donation during their stop in Labadee®, Hispaniola, a private beach in Haiti. While enjoying the rewards of their WIN lifestyle, they will also experience the joy and satisfaction that comes from giving back and making a difference.
“When I give, without the expectation of receiving in return, it is invariably the time when I receive the most — the greatest sense of fulfillment and of having impacted someone else’s life in a positive way,” shares Dr. Rollins of Bridgeport, West Virginia. He actively supports charities devoted to helping women in crisis and children in orphanages around the world. Through WIN, people are achieving financial and time freedom that allows them to devote even more of their time and resources to causes they’re passionate about. As WIN continues growing worldwide, so will its efforts in helping change the lives of others because that is the strong foundation this company was built on.
Some of the charities WIN supports include: American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Anthony Robbins Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, Inc., Buckner Children’s Home, Byron Nelson Classic, Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center, Coma Recovery Association, Dallas CAN Academy, Dare To Dream, Design Texas-Sickle Cell Research, Fellowship Of Christian Athletes, Frisco Project For The Future, Habitat For Humanity, Hearts Together for Haiti, Help Kelly Foundation, Hope’s Door, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Lakemont Academy, Lee National Denim Day, Leukemia Association of North Central Texas, Inc., London Marathon, Mike Ditka Celebrity Golf Classic, North Texas Food Bank, PFRA Charities Zebra Open, Race For The Cure, Rainbow Days, Robin Hood Relief Fund, Shelter Ministries of Dallas, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Stonebriar Squire’s Cup, Stonebriar Queen’s Cup Sponsor, Susan G.
